At first,

I played a widow

And mourned the strong side of me

In a society that regards my strength

as befitting,

Only for a man with two sacks

I began to underplay my achievements, And swallow my opinions

A compromise,

To keep my man,

The leader of my home.

Then I kept him locked

In my cage,

A place where he prays,

For a drop of my water,

And worships,

The sea between my thighs.
